Privacy Policy

Overview

Spendlo is an iOS expense tracking app that helps you understand your spending using transactions from eligible financial accounts you choose to connect through Apple's FinanceKit framework.

Spendlo is designed to process and store your financial data locally on your iPhone. It does not require a Spendlo account or transmit your transactions to a Spendlo-operated server.

Financial Data & FinanceKit

With your explicit authorization through Apple's FinanceKit interface, Spendlo may access transaction information from eligible accounts, including merchant or transaction descriptions, amounts, currencies, dates, and relevant account identifiers.

Spendlo uses this information only to display transaction history, calculate spending totals, categorize expenses, and provide spending insights. FinanceKit support depends on your location, financial institution, and account eligibility.

Spendlo does not ask for or store your online banking passwords or full payment card numbers.

Local Storage

Imported transactions, category assignments, user-created categorization rules, and app preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData technology.

Spendlo does not operate a remote database containing your financial transactions and does not synchronize them to a Spendlo server.

How We Use Financial Data

Spendlo uses authorized data to summarize your spending, display category charts and transaction details, and combine eligible spending across accounts you select.

Merchant-based categorization runs on your device. When you change a category, your selection is stored locally to improve the experience within the app.

Data Collection & Sharing

Spendlo does not collect your financial transaction data on developer-controlled servers. It does not sell, rent, or share financial data with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.

Spendlo does not use FinanceKit data for marketing, advertising, or cross-app tracking. The app does not currently integrate third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

Permissions & Your Choices

FinanceKit access is optional. Apple provides the authorization flow for supported financial accounts. You can choose which accounts to authorize and review or revoke access using Apple's available privacy controls.

Within Spendlo, you can choose whether an authorized account is included in spending calculations. Excluding an account from totals does not itself revoke FinanceKit authorization or delete previously imported data.

Data Retention & Deletion

Financial data stored by Spendlo remains on your device until you delete it using an available in-app data deletion option or delete the app and its local data through iOS. Revoking FinanceKit permission may stop future access but does not necessarily remove transactions already saved locally.

Information retained independently by Apple or your financial institution is governed by their respective policies.

Children's Privacy

Spendlo is not designed for children and does not knowingly collect children's personal information on developer-controlled servers.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This policy may be updated if Spendlo's features or data practices change. The latest version will appear on this page with an updated date.
